This
(40) forty hour seminar is part of the Criminal Justice and Training
Commission (CJSTC) approved Instructor Training Program. The K-9
Team Instructor Course was developed to enhance the knowledge, skills,
and abilities of an individual aspiring to become a K-9 team instructor
and to ensure quality K-9 team training for criminal justice personnel.
Topics will include K-9 safety, types of aggression, civil agitation,
body language, grip development, narcotics/explosive detection,
and proper equipment. The seminar will be comprised of specialized
training led by certified instructors using various types of techniques
& theories. |

Who
Should Attend: |
Any
full time law enforcement officer with a minimum of five (5) years
experience in law enforcement to include a minimum of three (3)
years experience as a K-9 handler. |

$365.00 per team, which includes registration, tuition, and handouts.

7550 State Road 84, Davie, Florida, 33317. The reserved group rate

Instructors: |
Steve
Sprouse - has been in law enforcement for 24 years and
a K-9 officer for 19 years. He is currently the trainer for the
Broward County Sheriff's Office, located in South East Florida and
has been an FDLE certified canine instructor since 1993. Steve and
his canine partners over the last 19 years have been involved in
hundreds of K-9 apprehensions, many resulting in canine use of force.
In 1989, Steve was shot and seriously wounded in a K-9 deployment
and has since been involved in the importance of training for reality.
He has lectured and taught numerous K-9 classes and seminars and
has had several canine training articles published in popular police
K-9 publications.
Oscar
"Gonzo"
Gonzalez - has been in law enforcement
for 21 years and a K-9 officer for 17 years. He has been working
for the Wilton Manors Police Department, Broward County, Florida
for the past 17 years. Prior to his current assignement, he served
with the U.S. Air Force as a patrol, narcotic, & explosive dog
handler for 4 years. Oscar has been a certified State of Florida
K-9 team instructor since 1997 and was the co-founder of the Police
K-9 Training Institute.
He also travels throughout the country instructing in K-9 seminars.
Marc
Plunske - is a police officer with the City of Sunrise
Police Department, Florida, for the past 17 years. Mark has been
working and training patrol and detection dogs for the over 15 years.
He is a certified State of Florida FDLE K-9 Team Instructor &
Evaluator. Mark has trained numerous K-9 teams in South Florida
and currently organizes weekly K-9 patrol training for several surrounding
police agencies (Broward & Dade Counties). He also travels throughout
the country instructing in K-9 seminars.
Chad
Bishop - is a Police Officer for the City of Davie Police
Department, Florida, for 9 years. Chad has been working and training
patrol and detection dogs for the past 5 years. He is a certified
State of Florida FDLE K-9 Team Instructor. Chad has trained numerous
K-9 teams in South Florida and currently participates as an instructor
in weekly K-9 patrol training for several surrounding police agencies
(Broward & Dade Counties). He is currently working his second
patrol / narcotics dog.
